Holly Bear Story

A friend and new client, Rachel Collier, recently came to me to commission a quilted memory bear for
her dear friends, Jeanne Collins Thrift and James Thrift. Their daughter, Holly Amanda Seay battled
hard against Cystic Fibrosis and colon cancer. Sadly, she passed away in June 2023. Rachel wanted
to gift her friends with a special keepsake but didn’t know where to look. After reconnecting with me
on a completely different topic, she learned that creating memory quilts and bears is my sweet spot.
Rachel met up with the Thrifts to collect a few garments from Holly’s adorable wardrobe. Each piece
was quilted with a meaningful design including the word “fearless” which was quilted on the back of
the bear to reflect Holly’s tattoo that represented her approach to life.

After sharing with me Holly’s story, I was honored to be part of creating what we have loving referred
to as the “Holly Bear” as a tribute to her love for her husband, family, best friends, and Taylor Swift.
